What cross or hybrid breeds do your sell? How are they crossed?

We offer a few varieties of birds that are cross bred to increase egg production or broiling capabilities. Here are a list of those breeds and how they are crossed:

Chickens:

Gold Sex Link/Golden Comet/Gold Star/ISA Brown: Rhode Island White female, Rhode Island Red male

Red Sex Link/Red Star: Delaware female, Rhode Island Red male

Black Sex Link/Black Star: Barred Plymouth Rock female, Rhode Island Red male

Delaware: New Hampshire Red with Barred Plymouth Rock chickens

California White: Leghorn and Production Black chickens, developed by Ideal Poultry in the 1960's.

Austra White: Black Australorp male and White Leghorn female

Jumbo Cornish Cross: Cornish and White Rock chickens

"Splash" Coloration: When breeding a white bird with black or blue, you can get a "splash" coloration, which looks like black flecks on white feathers.

Turkeys:

Broad Breasted Bronze (commercial breed): Eastern Wild with domestic turkeys brought over from Europe

Broad Breasted White (commercial breed): Developed from Broad Breasted Bronze

Ducks:

Golden 300 Hybrid Layer: Special blend from breeder John Metzer consisting of many traits from the Khaki Campbell breed. Optimal egg layer of duck breeds.

White Golden Layer: Special blend from breeder John Metzer consisting of many traits from the Khaki Campbell breed, but more suitable for balut eggs with much lower occurrence of blue/green eggs.
